Good Clean Fun Part 2

Here is the second part of my holiday diary:

Wednesday: Again, up nice n early to go jogging (unheard of). Didn't do the stupidly ridulous 7 mile run though and decided to do a couple of miles of beach running instead. This in itself is no mean feat as sand has a particularly draining effect on the old pods and when I got back to the flat I was knackered. Still did all my situps and weights though, no pain no gain. At 2.00pm my Dad turned up to stay the night, bit of a lads day out. Experienced something very new in the afternoon: A game of golf I actually enjoyed! Considering I hadn't swung a club in anger for 5 years (broke a pitching wedge last time), was still as good as a man with no arms, but loved every minute of it. The sun was shining and the 19th hole was good (couple of pints of cool guiness), beautiful. Got back to the flat only to go straight out again down the pub for more beer and a gorgeous fish supper. Several beers later and it was time for bed.

Thursday: Dad got me up at the crack of Dawn (lovely girl) or 6.30am in my time to have another experience I actually enjoyed: fishing! Please respect that my two previous experiences of fishing were off Deel Harbour (Kent) when I was 4 so don't really remember it and nearly catching Hypothermia at Castle Howard (York) when I was 15 (hot mushroom soup never tasted so good). However, now that I actually have the time to do it and understand more about all the knots and reels and casting etc - I f*ckin loved it! 3 Hours we were out there! What did I catch, not Sea Bass, no, Sea Weed! But have promised my Dad that I'll fish again in June I enjoyed it so much. After that he drove home and I cracked on with the ol writing.

Friday: My one true day of relaxation, although I did write 1500 words for my book in that time. Went for a long walk at dusk and happened upon the strangest sight on the beach, a 4 foot dead shark! At the time this seemed mighty strange, but have now spoken to several sources who inform me that a species of shark does indeed swim in the Wash. It's Hunstanton's biggest fish called a Tope Shark and it can grow to 6 foot! So there you go. Anyway, so ended my last night of what was a fantastic week. What pleased me was that I didn't waste any time, and I finally came away with a book plot, some words and a feeling of genuine satisfaction.

And I now like fishing; scary.
